Potato Harvest

When a plant is putting lots of energy into growing leaves and flowers, it may not be putting enough into the tubers and fruit. Also I didn’t find any new potatoes in the mulch I’d piled up, so I figured that I was going to get nothing but some healthy-looking potato plants.

But no, all the potatoes were hiding at the very bottom of the trench. Nearly 20 lbs. of potatoes.

I’ve stuck them in the basement and hope that they keep pretty well there. I expect there’s a lot of potato salad and potato soup and mashed potaters in my future.
